MANKATO (May 1, 2019) — The Mankato Clinic Foundation has awarded $25,000 to the Educare Foundation to support initiatives and programs in Mankato Area Public Schools.

“The Mankato Clinic Foundation has strongly supported health and wellness initiatives in our schools. We are excited to partner with Educare because this foundation has insight into the needs of our schools, teachers and students,” said Marcia Bahr, Mankato Clinic Foundation president.

The Mankato Clinic Foundation funds initiatives to promote the health and well-being of our community. This collaboration will help the Mankato Clinic Foundation positively impact children and adolescents.

“Educare is excited to receive this donation from the Mankato Clinic Foundation,” said Chuck Brandel, Educare Foundation board chair. “Educare has funded numerous medical-related grants throughout the years and most recently funded biomedical science equipment for both East and West high schools and Heart Zone Systems for the elementary Get Fit! Stay Fit! program.”

“With the biomedical equipment Educare funded, we were able to bring in Project Lead the Way and offer principles of biomedical science classes,” said Sarah Summers, health careers educator. “This allowed students from both East and West high schools to experience real life applications, such as dissecting a heart and splicing and analyzing DNA, which you normally don’t experience in a traditional high school.”

“We look forward to our partnership with Mankato Clinic Foundation and administering these additional funds in our schools,” Brandel said.

About Mankato Clinic Foundation

A small, dedicated group of physicians started the Mankato Clinic Foundation in 1965, making it one of the oldest foundations in Minnesota. Since that time, the foundation has expanded its reach by supporting community health events and offering educational health-related programs to the community. The foundation receives the majority of its funding from Mankato Clinic physicians, along with giving by Mankato Clinic staff and the greater Mankato community.
