Ian Barnes of Janesville receives J. Scott Sanders, M.D., Memorial Scholarship

Mankato Clinic launches Urgency Care to provide more complex & acute care

Mankato Clinic has renovated its Urgency Care facility at Main Street to improve patient care and comfort and create a more efficient workspace for staff. Urgency Care offers medical care for a wide range of illnesses, injuries, and conditions with shorter wait times and lower costs than hospital emergency rooms. Patients can expect a highly trained team of physicians, practitioners, and nurses to provide medical care with bedside cardiac monitoring, full lab services, and full diagnostic imaging services, including x-rays, CT scans, MRI imaging, and ultrasounds. Same-day appointments may also be available by calling Urgency Care.

Mankato Clinic Foundation partners with Educare

The Mankato Clinic Foundation has awarded $25,000 to the Educare Foundation to support key programs in Mankato Area Public Schools, marking a total of $100,000 awarded by the Foundation since 2019. The grants support social, emotional, and equitable learning programs, emphasizing the foundation’s passion for fostering the health and well-being of the community members. Foundation funds have also helped purchase diverse student books, cardio drumming sticks, sensory learning rooms, multi-ethnic play people sets, and books on social-emotional skills.

The Mankato Clinic Foundation has approved $96,125 in grants to community organizations in the first quarter. Grant recipients include Greater Mankato Area United Way, Connections Ministry emergency shelter, Educare Foundation, and Mankato Youth Place, among others. Grant applications are considered on a quarterly basis with the next deadlines being March 1 and June 1.

The Mankato Clinic Foundation has approved $14,162 in grants for community organizations in quarter three, supporting health and wellness in the region. Recipients include the Friends of Learning, the Minnesota State University Foundation, Helping Paws of Minnesota, the City of Saint Peter, and Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial Elementary School. The Mankato Clinic physicians provide the majority of the foundation funding to support organizations that aim to improve the health and wellness of the communities they serve, having provided over $1.8 million in scholarships and grants in the last ten years.

The list recognizes the most progressive companies in Minnesota based on employee opinions measuring engagement, organizational health, and satisfaction, with rankings based on survey information collected by Energage, an independent company specializing in employee engagement and retention.

Two Students Receive J. Scott Sanders M.D. Memorial Scholarships

The Mankato Clinic Foundation has awarded the J. Scott Sanders, M.D. Memorial Scholarships to Parker Beavens, a Mankato East High School graduate, and MacKenzie Pettis, a Saint Peter High School graduate, with each student receiving a $2,000 scholarship. The scholarship, named in honor of the late J. Scott Sanders, M.D., Mankato Clinic’s physician, pulmonologist, and critical care specialist, recognizes the role of character in young adults’ lives. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be high school seniors and live within the Mankato Clinic service area, which includes Mankato, North Mankato, St. Peter, Lake Crystal, Mapleton, and nearby communities.
