Early in 1916, Drs. A.E. Sohmer and J.S. Holbrook attended a medical convention in Rochester. They had a discussion about the model of solo medical practice becoming obsolete and their brainstorming that evening formed the beginning of the Mankato Clinic. They got up the following morning, shook hands and formed a unique partnership to serve their patients better. The Mankato Clinic's 'group practice' officially opened its doors in the fall of 1916 in downtown Mankato.

The Mankato Clinic is now one of Minnesota's largest physician owned, multi-specialty regional group practices and represents the most comprehensive array of high-quality, professional health-care services in the area. With over 90 years and 115 physicians and healthcare professionals providing care to the region, the philosophy of the Mankato Clinic has always been to bring quality healthcare services to the community, close to home whenever possible.
