How to Make an Appointment
A referral from your child’s primary care provider is needed to make an initial consult appointment. Once the referral is received, the team at Mankato Clinic Pediatric Therapy Services will assist you in setting up your child’s initial appointment.

Understanding Your Insurance Coverage
It’s important to understand your child’s health insurance benefits prior to the first appointment. The Mankato Clinic recommends that you call your insurance provider to learn about the services that are covered under your plan. Most insurance plans will require a co-pay for each appointment. This co-pay will be collected at the time of check-in.

What to Expect

  • Your child’s initial consult will be 60-90 minutes long and follow-up appointments are typically 30-60 minutes.
  • The therapist(s) will begin by asking you questions about your child’s health and specific concerns for which they are being seen.
  • The length of an episode of care is unique to each child. It is our goal as therapists to work with children to achieve their established goals and to educate caregivers how to best help their child accomplish their goals. There will be an ongoing conversation with caregivers about the progress of their child and when ending an episode of care might be appropriate. It is normal for children to take breaks to allow for them to grow, reenergize and practice their new skills in their natural environment. We promise as therapists to keep open lines of communication regarding when it is appropriate to take a break from services, how to maintain skills during the break and when or if your child should come back in to see us.
  • While you and your child are at Mankato Clinic Pediatric Therapy Services, please respect the privacy of other families and patients.
