MANKATO (April 29, 2021) — The 2021 Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact awards honor individuals and organizations whose accomplishments exemplify and celebrate the public purpose at the heart of higher education. As a member of the compact, Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter nominated and awarded the Presidents’ Community Partner Award to the Mankato Clinic.

Gustavus Adolphus College has partnered for 11 years with the Mankato Clinic to offer an exclusive opportunity to selected pre-health students to observe a variety of medical professionals. The college thanks Mankato Clinic employees Linda Annis, Provider Services, and April Oachs, RN, clinical manager, for their willingness, enthusiasm and follow-through to coordinate this exceptional opportunity.

“We are so proud of Linda and April’s efforts to give students valuable, real-world experience in the healthcare field. Job shadowing allows students to walk in the shoes of our healthcare providers and learn what it’s like to work in a clinic,” said Keith Bauer, Mankato Clinic Human Resources director. “We are honored to partner with Gustavus Adolphus College, which offers excellent classroom instruction, to prepare our future healthcare professionals for careers.”

The Presidents’ Community Partner Award recognizes a community-based partner or organization that has enhanced the quality of life in the community in meaningful and measurable ways and has engaged in the development of sustained, reciprocal partnerships with the college or university, thus enriching educational as well as community outcomes.
