Mankato Clinic Opthalmologists specialize in the medical and surgical care of the eyes and visual system and in the prevention of eye disease and injury. They provide a full spectrum of care including routine eye exams, diagnosis and medical treatment of eye disorders and diseases, prescriptions for eyeglasses, surgery, and management of eye problems that are caused by systemic illnesses.
We schedule routine ocular examinations including refraction for glasses and contact lenses. More serious ocular and systemic diseases evaluated and treated include glaucoma, diabetes, cataracts, macular degeneration, amblyopia, strabismus (crossed eyes) and monitoring high-risk medications.
Full laser services are available including LASIK and other state of the art laser refractive surgeries including the most recent advancement in laser vision technology— VISX CustomVue™ Wave Front Surgery. This technology measures the distortion or irregularities of the eye and adjusts the excimer laser to correct the problem. Refractive surgery procedures have been performed at the Mankato Clinic since 1995. We employ the most advanced options for cataract and implant surgery along with surgery for glaucoma, diabetes, retinal detachment, tumors of the eyelids, face and orbit, cosmetic eyelid surgery and strabismus.
Our Optometrists concentrate on the structure, function and disorders of the eye. In addition to prescribing glasses and fitting contact lenses, optometrists are trained to manage medical problems of the eye such as: infections, glaucoma, diabetes, inflammatory disorders, amblyopia, strabismus (crossed eyes), macular degeneration, and other eye diseases. Our Optometrists also assist in the pre-operative and post-operative management of patients who undergo eye surgery.
