Mankato Clinic Express to Open at River Hills Mall
Mankato - The Mankato Clinic is announcing that it will open a River Hills Mall location called “Mankato Clinic Express” this fall.

Staffed with Mankato Clinic nurse practitioners and physicians’ assistants, the menu of services is designed to be quick and convenient, treating common ailments, such as strep throat, urinary tract infections, ear infections, and pink eye. Mankato Clinic Express will be located in the Target wing, offering three designated mall entrances and convenient access to pharmaceuticals and over-the-counter medications.
Mankato Clinic Chief Operating Officer, Bryan Nermoe, says the Mankato Clinic has a 91-year history of being an innovator in expanding services and providing the very best in quality and lower cost when it comes to the delivery of health care. “Consumers are continually asking for options when it comes to healthcare services and the Mankato Clinic is responding. In continuing our 91-year legacy in Mankato, we see this as a continuation of our leadership in shaping the healthcare landscape and providing what the community needs and desires,” says Nermoe.
Services provided at Mankato Clinic Express will be offered within a lower cost structure - $49 for an office visit plus $10 for any required lab tests. Insurance will be accepted. Nermoe says it’s the Mankato Clinic’s goal to continue to provide the highest quality healthcare at the lowest cost in Greater Mankato. “Similar to the opening of the Mankato Surgery Center, we are choosing a new environment to provide healthcare which allows us to do it for a better value to the consumer,” says Nermoe.
According to Nermoe, the Mankato Clinic is able to offer retail care that is part of a larger continuum and system of care. We’re not just a stand-alone facility, we are offering this service as part of the patients overall system of care which facilitates better health,” says Nermoe. Nermoe points out that for Mankato Clinic patients, their visit will be automatically included in their health record, and referrals can be made for any ongoing healthcare needs identified during visits.
Mankato Clinic Chief Medical Officer Mark Matthias, M.D., says another major difference from other retail clinics is that Mankato Clinic Express patients can expect the same level of quality they would receive at any other Mankato Clinic location. “Mankato Clinic Express will be staffed by the same providers as our Urgent Care Department using the same treatment protocols. These are healthcare providers who have experience treating a broader scope of care on a daily basis,” says Matthias.
If patients present symptoms beyond the retail clinic’s treatment menu, they can be seen by a provider at one of seven Mankato Clinic primary care sites.
According to Matthias, retail clinics cannot meet all healthcare needs. “Patients should continue to rely on their primary care physician for treatment of more complex health issues, such as overdue preventative care, weight management counseling, symptoms associated with chronic disease, such as diabetes management, hypertension, etc.,” says Matthias.
Mankato Clinic Express will also be staffed by a receptionist who can assist shoppers with scheduling other Mankato Clinic appointments as well as provide assistance with questions about Mankato Clinic services. Hours of operation will be the same as the River Hills Mall.
The Mankato Clinic is locally owned, and is the largest multi-specialty clinic in Greater Mankato, offering eight sites in six communities, including Mankato, North Mankato, St. Peter, Lake Crystal, Mapleton and Blue Earth.
