Mankato Clinic Brings Neuropsychology to Region
The Mankato Clinic is now offering Neuropsychology specialty care. Neuropsychologist, Angela L.H. Buffington, Ph.D., L.P., C.R.C., recently joined the Mankato Clinic and is providing care in the Mankato Clinic Psychiatry Department at Madison East.
Neuropsychologists work with patients who have been impacted by a variety of brain disorders, such as stroke, brain injury, neoplasms, epilepsy, memory loss, dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease. They help patients understand the damage that has occurred to the brain and what that means for day-to-day functioning. Neuropsychologists can also work with patients to provide counseling and neurocognitive rehabilitation.
Dr. Buffington received Bachelor’s Degrees in psychology and sociology from Wartburg College and a Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Iowa. She completed her doctoral training at Duke University, earning her PhD in 2003. Dr. Buffington also completed a two-year fellowship in clinical neuropsychology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. In 2003 Dr. Buffington was awarded the prestigious Manfred Meier Scholarship for outstanding achievement in the field of neuropsychology by the American Psychological Foundation and American Psychological Association’s Division of Clinical Neuropsychology. She is a licensed psychologist in the State of Minnesota and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor.
